This is a tetsubin hat made from Nanbu Hishishi, created by Wataya Hishishi, an artist from Aomori.
Nanbu Hishishi is one of the three major sashiko pieces, including Tsugaru Kogin Embroidery and Shonai Sashiko, and Wata and Hishishi learned the skills on their own.
The detailed pattern of the diamond sash gives it a nostalgic yet new feel, and is fun to use.
The inside is made by hand-knitted artist Narinomi, and is a tetsubi hat that can be described as a joint work by the two.
